The World Economic Forum is predicting that by 2050 the world's oceans are expected to contain more floating plastics than fish. The Ocean Cleanup Project is aiming to be able to remove 90% of it by 2050.

Most of the floating garbage and plastic in the ocean tends to bundle together. There are 5 large patches of garbage and plastic, with the largest build up located just between Hawaii and California, called the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. If the patch isn't cleaned up, the plastic will impact our ecosystem, health, and eventually our economies.
